3rd Social Meeting - "Make A Difference"

In conjunction with World Earth Day which falls on April 22, Leo Club of Penang Chinese Girls' High School has organised "Make A Difference" project. This project aims to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.

As we all know, recycling is very common nowadays that it happens all the time in our daily life. Our school has also come out with many ideas to make the students recycle. In order to let our members have some joy while recycling, the board of directors has organized this project on our 3rd social meeting.

Early that morning, each committee were asked to bring some recyclable items from each of our house to let our members make some sculpture out of these materials. So here are a little items we have:

Then, the members distributed themselves into groups. Each group representative came to get some materials from the committee and they were given 45 minutes to finish their sculpture. Although not all the members work on it, quite many of them tried by putting in some effort. Not forgetting the committees who walked around helping them too.

As you can see, our members were quite serious with their sculpture so yeah i think it went on quite well.
TADAAAAH! So here's the end products. Our members managed to produce nice work though, it totally surprised us.

Penang Bridge.

Petronas Twin Tower by five different groups.

KL Tower.

Members presenting their "products" to everyone. :)

Before we end our meeting, we have this Form 2 girl named Joanna Ling Minyi sharing what she learnt through this project. She said: "Through this project, I've learnt that teamwork among group members is important. I've also realised that not all the rubbish are rubbish, sometimes, if we really try an effort to make a difference, a rubbish can end up to be something useful or helpful."

Wondering where those "products" gone after the project? Well, some of our members took them home while some recycled them in our school recycle station. :)

Lastly, the committees were very grateful to all the Leos who supported this project. We hope everyone learnt something from this. Well done, ROARRR!

Here's an inspiring photo to share with all of you. Happy Recycling, everyone! :D
